Throughout Apollo, NASA tested every possible process in the missions prior to their final lunar landing in Apollo 11. Here, the steely, pitted surface of the moon is reflected in the shining gleam of the Apollo 10 Command Module, which saw astronauts John Young, Gene Cernan and Tom Stafford orbit the moon to test separation and re-docking of the Lunar Module, all carried out a tantalising 50,000 feet above the astronaut’s final destination.
